The "Breathtaking" shawl is now a ball of yarn again. I, however, plan to recreate it with some alpaca from the stash. We'll see how that one goes...
Speaking of alpaca, I've heard that it behaves like cotton (stretches and then stays there). Is that true?

Alpaca has many wonderful virtues. Memory is not one of them. If stretched, it does tend to stay there. An alpaca/wool blend, however, would have many of the perks, and fewer of the flaws, as 100% paca.

That's been my experience with alpaca. But it's so soft and drapey it's worth it. I have one stole that just keeps getting longer, but it doesn't grow any in width. It's a favorite.
